SMP Kristen Getasan (Getasan Christian Junior High School) was established in 1978 at the suggestion of the then head of Getasan Village. This was because at that time there were no secondary schools in Getasan. Elementary school graduates had to continue their education in Ngablak or Salatiga. When it was first established, the junior high school borrowed the buildings of Getasan Elementary Schools 1 and 3, which were located near Getasan Market. Teaching and learning activities were carried out during the day. With the establishment of Getasan Christian Junior High School, children could easily continue their education. Getasan Christian Junior High School is under the Salatiga Sion Yayasan. For nine years, the junior high school operated and occupied/borrowed the elementary school building. In 1985, the Sion Yayasan built a permanent school building. In 1987, teaching and learning activities began in the morning.
The purpose of this junior high school is not only to assist the government in its efforts to educate the nation, but also to provide useful skills in accordance with the abilities of junior high school students, as well as to guide them in their faith in God so that students can develop themselves, their families, and wherever they are. In other words, Getasan Christian Junior High School prepares students to become independent, accomplished individuals who fear God.
In addition, this school is a place of service, a place to spread the good news, a place of testimony. So don't let this school close. Even though the challenges are quite difficult, namely the existence of public schools and schools with religious backgrounds. Currently, there are three public schools in Getasan.

As an educational institution based on Christian values, our school believes that collaboration and synergy with various parties is the key to creating quality, relevant, and impactful education. Therefore, our school collaborates with various strategic partners, including those from the education sector, churches, the business world, and social institutions. Our school works closely with a number of local churches in developing the spiritual character of students. Among the programs implemented is filling vocal groups for local churches in the surrounding area.
Through the support of our partners, our school is increasingly able to carry out its mission of shaping a young generation that is intellectually superior, strong in character, and firm in faith. This collaboration is also clear evidence that working together in the love of Christ can bring transformation to the world of education.
We believe that educational services are not a task that can be done alone, but rather a joint effort that requires support and participation from various parties. Everyone, with their unique talents and roles, has the opportunity to take part in building a future generation that is honest, knowledgeable, and faithful.
Therefore, we invite all parents, alumni, church congregations, partners, and the general public to take part in supporting the services in our unit. Participation can take various forms, including: prayer support, contribution of time and expertise, participation in social activities, financial or material support, volunteering, or becoming a school friend.
