The existence of the natural environment is a divine gift that is vital to human survival. Since the beginning of creation, God has provided a bountiful natural world and entrusted humanity with the responsibility to care for it, as written in Genesis 1:28. However, due to human greed and sin, the environment has suffered serious damage, including illegal logging, pollution, energy and food crises, and alarming climate change. As people of faith, we have a moral and spiritual responsibility to protect and care for nature as an expression of love for the Creator and as a precious legacy for future generations.

Through the Environmental Unit, the Sion Foundation plays a tangible role in preserving the environment down to the community level. With a vision to manifest God’s love through a sustainable, safe, and comfortable environment, this unit aims to encourage active community involvement in saving the earth. Its primary targets are farmers, livestock breeders, and local communities in the areas supported by the Sion Foundation, as well as institutions and government bodies with similar missions in environmental conservation.

The Environmental Unit has implemented various concrete initiatives, such as developing biogas programs to create energy-independent communities, enhancing food security, promoting nature-friendly farming practices, and leading reforestation efforts. All these programs are carried out in a spirit of collaboration with strategic partners such as the Rumah Energi Foundation, BKN, GZB, local and village governments, and farmer groups. They contribute to human resource training, biogas infrastructure development, subsidy provision, and the implementation of environmental actions that have a broad and sustainable impact.

This unit invites every individual to get involved in protecting the earth, because nature is not merely an inheritance, but a trust that must be preserved for the future. With the spirit of “Turning Waste into Blessings” and “Local Actions with Global Impact,” the Environmental Unit promotes the awareness that big changes can start with small steps.
